Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

5. FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

❓1. I connected to GenRouter WiFi, but there’s no internet?

Answer:

  • Make sure the main internet cable is properly plugged into the WAN port of GenRouter.

  • Check if your main modem/router has internet access.

  • Try restarting both GenRouter and your main modem.

❓2. My device is connected but doesn't change IP?

Answer:

  • Make sure you've assigned a proxy or VPN to that device in the Device Manager.

  • After entering the proxy/VPN, don’t forget to click “Apply for Device.”

  • Double-check the format of your proxy: ip:port:username:password

❓3. What's the difference between setting proxy for a device vs. for the router?

Answer:

  • Device-level proxy: You can assign a different IP for each device connected to GenRouter.

  • Router-level proxy: All devices will share the same proxy or VPN connection.

❓4. What proxy formats are supported?

Answer: GenRouter supports:

  • HTTP

  • SOCKS5

  • VPN (NordVPN, ExpressVPN, or custom config via OpenVPN, WireGuard…)

❓5. What is WebRTC Interference Mode?

Answer: This feature prevents your real IP address from leaking through the browser (like Chrome or Firefox), even when using a proxy/VPN. It’s recommended to turn this ON if you're doing browser-based activities or using automation tools.

❓6. Why do I still see my local IP address (like 192.168.x.x)? Am I leaking my IP?

Answer: No, you're not leaking your real public IP.

The IP address you see (such as 192.168.12.172) is your local network IP — it’s the private address that GenRouter assigns to your device inside your home or office network.

📌 This local IP is only visible to you and your router, not to websites or apps you visit online.

When using a proxy or VPN through GenRouter, your public IP (the one that websites and apps see) is already changed or hidden — that’s what matters.

✅ So don’t worry — seeing a local IP like 192.168.x.x is normal and safe. It does not affect your ability to farm accounts, stay anonymous, or bypass location blocks.

❓7. Can I hide my WiFi network?

Answer: Yes. When creating or editing a WiFi, simply toggle "Hidden" ON. Hidden WiFi won’t appear in the device list – you must connect manually by entering the WiFi name and password.

❓8. Why is my proxy showing “Offline”?

Answer:

  • Make sure your proxy is active and accessible from outside.

  • Test it on another tool (e.g. Proxifier or browser extension) to confirm it's working.

  • If you’re behind a firewall or blocked ISP, try using a different proxy/VPN provider.

❓9. Can I use the same GenRouter for multiple boxphones?

Answer: Absolutely. You can:

  • Assign different IPs to each boxphone

  • Separate them by WiFi or proxy

  • Use “Apply for Device” to control each device individually

❓10. Do I need to root my device to use GenRouter?

Answer: No. GenRouter works without rooting your devices. It handles IP changes and anonymity directly through the network, so all connected devices benefit automatically.
